Awesome holiday, many thanks.
The resort was great, easy for the teenagers to take a tuk tuk to town and be safe, the upgraded room was better, we had some other friends turn up halfway through and they had standard room, worth the cost of upgrade.  We looked at the merlin in patong town but not as nice.  Beach at resort wasnt really swimable but it didnt matter as pools great.
Weather was HOT up to 33 some days, but soon got used to it, we found that as start of rainy season we could bargain for trips and got good group discounts.  Phi Phi islands was a highlight.  Only a couple of thunderstorms, but pretty awesome to see and didnt effect anything.  Kata beach was nice, did a day there, more relaxed and better water sports for the kids, bit far out of patong for us. 
We ate mostly in patong, breakfast at resort yum yum.  Found a good street outside cental shopping centre and just ate our way down that road each night.  Heaps cheaper than resort. 

Larry and i are keen to go to Koh Samui maybe in a couple of years, talked to a few people who have been, it seems kind of like the old phuket before it became so commercialised. 

So yes, great holiday, teenagers loved it, so did we.  Not sure if we would go back, forgot we went to the fantasy show, really cool, beautiful meal,  we went for the upgrade on this and it was very worth it.  

Hope to book another holiday soon, have to save some pennies first!!!!
